The Art of feeling well

The people of the world today have to continually deal with illness. There is more illness today than happiness.  There is more anxiety than serenity.  People today probably consume more capsules than fresh food.  These are indications of a society who have forgotten the secrets; the secrets of not falling ill; the secrets our forefathers have used over the years.

Materialism has become such a monster that we spend all our time to see ways and means of earning or multiplying our wealth at the cost of our health.  Materialism is also reflected in the health care sector where big brands push their products through. The global health care industry is worth over $ 5 trillion.  Governments and private institutions are pumping enormous amounts of money into this industry to keep up with the demands.  However, over the last 50 years if we analyze the situation, we can easily see that though so much money has been poured into the sector people have not become healthier. There are more sick people in the world today than 50 years ago. The number of diabetics for example in the 1950’s was not more than 1 out of 250.  Today the number is 1 out of 5 or even more.  Same is the case with all the diseases.

So, where is the problem?  Why the health care industry world over is unable to solve this ever growing problem? Why more and more people suffer various diseases?  Do we have any answers? The answers are not simple.  It is not going to be easy for anybody to come forward and solve this riddle and wave a magic wand to solve our health care issues.

However, the one thing we can say is that the providers of health can surely apply a holistic approach to health care.  In addition to the medicines, physical and emotional support that the Doctors provide, we have to look at the ‘spiritual’ side of the equation.  By spiritual side I do not mean Yoga, Meditation and the like (though that is a separate topic which we can deal with at another time), I actually mean the practical habits that we adopt in our day to do life.  It is the fabric of our character that I am mean here. It is not easy but it is not difficult either to practice these habits.  How many of us are willing to take time and effort to improve our habits so that we are not one of the many who are permanently ill? The choice is ours.  What is this Secret?

Speak your feelings

Emotions and feelings that are hidden and repressed end in illness as gastritis, ulcer, lumbar pain and spinal disorder. With time they degenerate to cancer. ‘Word’ is such a powerful remedy and an excellent therapy.  Speaking out reduces anxiety and more importantly avoids illness.

Make decisions

Indecision leads to doubt, anxiety and leads to worries and aggressions. Undecided people are victims of gastric ailments, nervous pains and problems of the skin.  Doubt in anything in this world means doubting the Lord himself. Have faith and cure yourself.  Faith leads to a peace of mind which helps organs to work effectively.  There is no doubt in that.

Find solutions

It is better to light a match than to regret darkness. Be optimistic and find solutions to all the problems that confront you. Negative thoughts generate negative energy which is transformed to illness. Solutions do not always means that we will end up on the winning side.  Sometimes even acceptance of a situation is a solution. For example when there is a terrorist attack in our neighborhood, acceptance of it that there is a reason for it is a solution.  The mind calms down with the acceptance and that leads to better organ efficiency and less illness.

Don’t live by appearances

He who hides, pretends and poses always wants to give the impression of being well.  There is nothing worse for the health than to live on facades. Those are people with lots of varnish and very little root.  Their destiny is pharmacy, hospital and pain. Pretending actually puts the entire biological system of the body at conflict with the inner being. The cells get all wrong messages leading to degenerations of the cells, organs and the body. It is better to beg rather than to live in false pretense.

Accept

The refusal of acceptance and the absence of self esteem make us alienate ourselves from our inner core. Being at one with ourselves is the core of a healthy life. Those who do not accept this, become envious, jealous, irritable, ultra competitive and destructive. Those who do not accept will have doubt, lack of faith and ultimately poor health.  Be accepted, accept that we are accepted and accept the criticisms. It is wisdom, good sense and therapy.

Trust

He, who does not trust, does not communicate, is not open, is not released, does not create deep and stable relationship do not get to enjoy true friendship. Distrust is lack of faith in you and in faith itself.  This leads to conflict with the self, resulting in inefficient working of the organs thus leading to illness.

TRUST YOURSELF AND OTHERS

 

If you don’t want to be ill …

Do not live life sad

Good humor, laughter, rest and happiness replenish health and bring long life. Good humor saves us from the hands of the Doctor. Happiness is health. Happiness is good therapy leading to good health.

BE HAPPY AND HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR

 

Now we know what to do for a good health.  We can choose to practice these habits and sit on the fringes and not be a part of this health care monster.
